When you are practicing shore based wading, always be sure to cover the water in close to you first before wading out to fish the more open sections.The fish can often be found right in close to the banks as they forage for food, particularly when lake levels are high - so some short, sharp casts might produce initial success or at least tick off that area of water before heading out deeper.
